OPENING NIGHT COSTUME PARTY  [ALL AGES]

Dress up as your favorite animated character and come prepared to sing and dance with Watervliet music teacher Brandon Mattson and his student ukulele band before the NYICFF  KID FLICKS ONE screening. Prizes awarded for the best costume. There will also be plenty of free popcorn and cupcakes (compliments of Bit of Swiss) on hand.  FREE

DANCEMAKER POST-SCREENING DISCUSSION WITH EILEEN CROPLEY

A panel discussion with Eileen Cropley, former Taylor dancer and founder of Citadel Dance Company in Benton Harbor follows the film.  We’ve enlisted Caroline Spikner, a local young filmmaker, to document the history of Ms. Cropley. A sneak peak of the cinema verite short chronicling this rare and indelible creative spirit will be screened.  FREE

RIGHT IN THE EYE SILENT FILM PERFORMANCE  & WORKSHOP WITH ALCOLÉA & CIE

A visually engaging, live musical production accompanying 11 short, silent films by French director Georges Méliès. For more information about the event, please see pages 10-11. In addition, Alcolea and Cie have graciously offered to host a free film and sound workshop prior to the performance at 4:00 PM. Space is limited.
